Heir to the genuine romantic bel canto, Celso Albelo is currently one of the most sought-after tenors by the world’s leading theaters. The elegance of his singing and his technical mastery have allowed him to expand his repertoire.
Originally for Santa Cruz de Tenerife, he trained at the Conservatory in his home town and at the Escuela Superior de Canto Reina Sofia in Madrid before enrolling in the Academy of Busseto in Italy, where he perfected his skills under Carlo Bergonzi.
His international career led him to debut in the world’s most important theaters, New York to la Scala in Milan, including the Staatsoper in Vienna, the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden in London, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Opéra National in Paris, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, La Fenice in Venice, and the Massimo in Palermo, among many other stages in Italy, Spain, Germany, Japan, China, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Monaco, and Chile. He has also performed a significant part of his repertoire at music festivals such as Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, the Caracalla Baths in Rome, the Castell de Peralda Festival, the Savonlinna Festival, the Proms in London, and the Baden-Baden Festspiele. He receives regulars invitations to perform in cities across Spain, including Bilbao, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, A Coruña, Sevilla, Oviedo, Valencia and Mahón. Currently, he has more than 25 roles in repertoire, primarily from Donzetti, Bellini, Rossiini and Verdi.
